City Sound Collective

A cohort of urban patrons who fund the NOW in the City program.

We are excited to launch City Sound Collective, patrons who are passionate about making classical music more accessible and relevant to modern, city-dwelling audiences. This cohort of forward-thinking donors will help fund NOW in the City programs - free orchestra performances in urban and unexpected venues —transforming the traditional concert experience and bringing classical music into the daily lives of newcomers who may not have previously engaged with this art form.

City Sound Collective is essential to our mission of transforming how classical music is experienced in the 21st century, ensuring that it remains vibrant, relevant, and inclusive for all.

Who are City Sound Collective:

  1. Urban & Connected
These donors live in the heart of the city and thrive on the vibrant, fast-paced energy around them. They are eager to support creative initiatives that bridge the gap between classical music and urban culture. Their contributions help bring the orchestra into unexpected venues—like pop-up performances in coffee shops, art galleries, rooftop bars, and other unconventional spaces that attract a dynamic crowd.

  2. Culture Enthusiasts
Though they may not be traditional classical music patrons, these urban professionals are passionate about art, culture, and unique experiences. They appreciate innovation and are drawn to NOW’s modern approach to breaking the mold of typical concert settings. Their support empowers NOW to reach new audiences, creating memorable, interactive, and immersive performances that resonate with their values.

  3. Impact-Driven Givers
This cohort values social impact and believes in supporting initiatives that increase accessibility and diversity in the arts. They are excited by the idea of bringing high-quality classical performances to urban spaces, ensuring that anyone—regardless of their background—can enjoy the beauty of orchestral music. By funding free concerts, they contribute to a more inclusive cultural landscape in DC.

  4. Experiential & Social Donors
For these urban professionals, philanthropy is about more than writing a check—they want to feel connected to the experiences their contributions make possible. In return for their support, they gain exclusive access to unique post-concert events, artist meet-and-greets, and immersive experiences that blur the lines between performer and audience, creating a social, interactive dimension to the concert experience.
