Ticket Assistance
Through our Ticket Assistance Program, the New Orchestra of Washington (NOW) is committed to making the joy and inspiration of live music accessible to everyone. In partnership with the Public Schools’ Community Schools system, we provide free tickets for students and their families to attend NOW’s signature concert series at The Kennedy Center, one of the nation’s most prestigious venues.
To ensure that these experiences are seamless and inclusive, the Community Schools program arranges complimentary bus transportation, making it easy for families to attend without logistical barriers. By giving these students and their loved ones the opportunity to witness live performances in such an iconic space, we are working together to create lasting memories, foster a love for the arts, and show that classical music is for everyone, regardless of background. Through this initiative, NOW aims to build bridges and invite more families into the world of music, where they can experience its transformative power in a welcoming and unforgettable way.
Hernández Álvarez Family Experience Approximately 4 weeks have passed, but the memory and emotion lived in the concert of the New Orchestra of Washington was unique. We have been living in the United States for 8 years, and it is the first time in this country that we have had the opportunity to attend a symphony concert as a family. It was an enriching experience for the children and for us as parents and as a family. The event was very well organized from before, and on April 1, 2023, all that professional work with which the concert was organized and opened was confirmed. The staff that helped were very kind despite the fact that our English was not very fluent, but at all times, we received guidance and help until we managed to obtain our entrance pass. Once inside, located in our chairs, the concert was an explosion of sounds and emotions, it was surprising to see the skills and passion with which they played the instruments and also surprised with the professionalism of the solo violinist, Miray Ito, and the skills by artistic director Alejandro Hernández-Valdez. Seeing the concert, and then meeting them personally was beautiful. They are professionals with great simplicity, they agreed at all times to take pictures with the children, these experiences not only remain in the memory of the students but also in the hearts. Living with great exhibitors of orchestral music in D.C is undoubtedly a source of motivation for future generations. We are grateful for the invitation and the opportunity to be part of such a beautiful event.
