Music Appreciation

Twice a year, NOW’s Artistic Director, Alejandro Hernandez-Valdez, along with talented soloists and musicians, visits Harmony Hills Elementary and Twinbrook Elementary for a special, interactive school assembly. These visits are more than just performances—they are immersive experiences where students can connect directly with world-class musicians.

During each visit, the artists engage students by sharing personal stories about their musical journeys, exploring how music can inspire creativity, curiosity, and joy. Following this, they deliver a live performance, allowing students to experience the magic of music up close. The assembly concludes with an informal Q&A session, where students are encouraged to ask questions and interact directly with the performers.

These school visits offer students a rare opportunity to see and hear professional musicians in their own school environment, sparking new interests and creating a lasting appreciation for music. Through this program, NOW is committed to making music accessible, educational, and inspirational for all students.
