We can hardly believe that we are in the middle of our fifth season – it feels like yesterday when we presented our very first concert back in 2012. So much has happened since then. For one thing, we’ve added a new member to the family (and we all know how that changes our lives upside down!). One of the biggest changes occurred in the summer of 2015 when Alejandro took a new position in New York City as Artistic Director of the Musica Viva Chamber Choir and historic All Souls Unitarian Church.
Despite our personal changes and evolution, our commitment to the orchestra has never been stronger. Let us rephrase this – our commitment to the incredible community of people who build the New Orchestra of Washington has never been stronger than it is now. We have come to know and love this unique group of people – artists, volunteers, audience, supporters, and so much more – who share the same passion for a fresh, new way of experiencing live orchestra music.
This is what makes NOW so special. The diversity and uniqueness of all people, who come together on a concert day and share the joy and the inspiration of the incredible music and feel connected to each other. This is what connected the two of us in the first place! The 7500-mile distance between our home countries didn’t really matter because we both shared the same aspirations and passion towards music.
So, we come #TogetherNOW to continue to build this amazing organization and community. Music has the power to surpass our differences and connect all humanity, but we can’t do this alone. So we would like to kindly ask you to support the New Orchestra of Washington through ways that are possible to you. You can volunteer. You can become an ambassador of NOW. You can become a Friend of NOW. There are so many ways to be more involved with and get closer to the NOW community.
We hope to see you in the new year, starting with our special Valentine’s Day concert on February 14 at the AMP Strathmore. Also, we hope you will mark your calendar for the NOWfest 2017 on June 2 at the Residence of the Ambassador of Japan. We are so grateful for your support for the past five years and can’t wait to share the next five years, and many more, of great music making!
