Season 4 – 2015-2016

NOW’s 2015-2016 season presents an exciting mix of cutting edge new works and beloved masterpieces from the past. As it has become expected of NOW, the familiar repertoire is never ordinary — through imaginative adaptations and a smaller but fierce ensemble, familiar music you thought you knew becomes alive and new again. Continuing to fulfill our mission of expanding the repertoire for reduced orchestra, NOW has commissioned three major works this season: a new adaptation of Elastic Band by local composer Joel Phillip Friedman, a new adaptation of Rush Hour by Ohio born composer John Mackey, and a viola concerto by Bostonian composer Elena Ruehr. Our guest artists will include Tim Park, cello, Marcus Thompson, viola, and Machiko Ozawa, violin and joining them are our own Derek Smith, viola and Jeremy Eig, clarinet in cutting-edge contemporary concertos. You will not want to miss the New Orchestra of Washington’s best season yet!
